hi  all  this is my  first attempt at using templot  the idea is for a 2mm fine scale branch line terminus some where in the south warwickshire area.its a joint GWR /LMS  station . comments please . i  think  i  may  have a few issues  with multiple layers !!!!

That's pretty good for a first attempt!

Could you please flesh out the description a bit so we can build a picture of the finished layout in our heads?

There are some technical issues though which can be easily fixed.

1 - The turnout road on the bottom right turnout has a bit of a dogleg in it!
2 - On the LMS main line, there are a number of overlapping templates which I've fixed (see attached) by deleting one template, splitting another to remove the exit track and adjusting the approach length on another.
3 - This happens in a few other places, but now you know how to fix it! (eg templates 33/67 & 48/49)
4 - Your project title is Slattocks Junction!

Paul many thanks for this. the description is based in the 20's to 40's and assumes the Midland and GWR joined up in a small market town to the south of Warwickshire( close to banbury) traffice will be mainly passenger on the two lines with normal market town goods traffice on the LMS line. the layout offers fair scope for shunting i feel.
this is my 2nd layout since resuming odeling and will be my first fine scale one.
I also need to learn how to change the name its saved as lol

The only point (no pun intended) that I wish to raise is that you have no means of running round an LMS train. I would expect to see a crossover in Pauls template 34 or your template 61.

Your files are in the C:/TEMPLOT/BOX-FILES/ folder unless you have changed the location.

If you didn't save a file, try going to the storage box (main > storage box menu item).

Click restore previous, or restore prior-previous, on the files menu on the storage box like this:

ahhh this is a very  pleased chap   .  more use =  easier  to   do  .

now have a next version   please have a look and  make comments .  i  have not got an engine shed  (  yet)   the 6 straight tracks  to  the right will be  traversers on the fiddle yard board unless i  find  point  making  fun  !!!!

all i  now have to  do  is  join  the 2mm FS  association  buy  some  bits  ........... maaaaake  two  more base boards  finish ther Gf's  kitchen '  beat  world poverty  and   wake up  .

I have taken the liberty of reducing the crossing angle on turnout (template 17) to a B6 turnout and added a transition on to the GW freight link getting rid of the 10" radius curve and giving a radius now of  22.6".

Just taken a quick look at your plan. Wondering if you alter a few lengths here and there, and a few other bits of shoving around, you might end up with something a bit more flexible, or more balanced in terms of operation. Here's a few thoughts.

a) Can't see anywhere on the LMS side where you could store a few coaches while goods operations are going on. If you shifted the release crossover on the left some way to the right you could leave coaches in the platform while still having enough room beyond for a goods locomotive to run around its train.

b) Not sure where your LMS plaform(s) is/are, but if they're below the main platform lines I'd be inclined to change your right-hand release crossover for a left-hand, which would be more normal. It would also give you a bit more storage space on the end of the upper track.

c) I'd extend the LMS loop to beyond (to the right of ) 29, and finish it in a right-hand crossover. The upper track to the right of the crossover could be a head-shunt, which would allow shunting operations to take place clear of the main running line. Extending the loop in this way also compensates for (a).

d) The GWR platform is fairly short short.  Shifting the release crossover to the right could give you something a bit longer. A more radical approach would be to have just one link between LMS and GWR lines, and have a loop wholly on the GWR lines.

e) There's a lot of empty space in the bottom of the plan. If you've got no concrete plans for filling it, one possibility is compressing things upwards. This would ease some of the curves. It would also give you the option of making a corresponding increase in the space at the top of the plan, which could give a more spacious goods yard.

i have printed the plan out full size ....... its bigger than i thought

A/B there will be platfoms both sides of the LMS tracks.


C one of the ideas of having to shunt onto the main line is to introduce ............ issues . lol


D i am seriously thinking of removing the platform cross over and just having the one link this will allow for a longer platform .... however i have 1 GWR praire Loco and one Coach so as it is at the moment the platforms just long enough
the idea of the crossover was to allow GWR loco's to run round their trains while delivering to the goods yard. without this crossover they will have to run round the main platform
, before i begin laying track i am going to play with some wooden blocks to see how it works
good thing about templot is changes are easy.

well after a couple of weeks testing with lil cardboard boxes i realised i needed more room on the top end so changing the diagonal lie to a simple straight parallel with the base board i achieved it . did away with the loco facilities .Rugby is not too far away.
guys n gals please have a look at the ''final track plan'' for Grand borough .
The rails sleepers and gauges will be here some time this week
I have a single board to have a play on the frame is under construction at the GF's. more to come soon
