Hi everyone.

I'm hoping someone can help me with some more beginners question, I'm using v 0.91c.

1) Is it possible to set a maximum size for the pad? (the same as my layout size)

2) If I have a group of templates and the notch is say in the most bottom left hand corner of a template, can I move the whole group so that the notch is re-sited on a specific co-ordinate?

Thanks in anticipation of some help

Richard

Hi Richard,

No, the pad is in effect infinite in size*.

What you can do is to create a rectangle shape (in main > background shapes...) to represent your layout size. To make the pad zoom out to just contain it, click the main > pad view fit shapes menu item.

if you wish you can then set that as a pre-set view on the zoom/pan dialog, and return to it at any time by clicking the numbered button:

zoom_pan_views_large.pngzoom_pan_views_large.png

For more about pre-set views, see: message 1849

Yes, use the notch linking functions:

1. With the template as a member of a group, click on it.

2. On its pop-up menu, click peg/align tools > put notch under peg on background template menu item.

3. You will see this:

link_q.giflink_q.gif

4. Select the blue bar option "yes - put notch under peg and link group".

5. Click the geometry > notch > set notch position and angle... menu item.

6. Enter the required new co-ordinates (and change the angle if desired).

7. The notch will jump to the new location and take the group of templates with it.

8. You can undo the move(s) by clicking
geometry > notch > cycle recent notch locations menu item, or press SHIFT+F7.

9. When all done, CLICK THE WARNING LABEL to cancel notch linking, otherwise you will get in a terrible muddle. (Or click group > unlink group from notch menu item, if the warning is not visible.)

*
The maximum zoom-out is set to 10,000 ft scaled, i.e. at 4mm/ft scale the maximum visible width is 40,000mm (40 metres). To see more pad area than that it is necessary to pan.

regards,

Martin.
