From various (mostly SecSoc) data sources I attach a box file with four LCDR plain track variations covering the period 1860 to 1893. Any further information very much appreciated. Phil PS the samples are in S7, but being plain track will readily convert to any other gauge. [Edit to remove typo] |

After some re-search into accident reports, I've updated the templates by adding a sample of 1858 track, which is interesting in that the joint between the 21ft rail lengths is carried in a large joint chair. Used on plateways, I've never heard of this being done on a main line (Chatham to Faversham) before. However, that is how the report reads. Sleepering is also interesting in that, although the joint chairs are carried on rectangular section sleepers, the intermediate sleepers were half-round (presumably flat side up). Anyone know more about this? Phil |
