I have decided to use code 40 track but haven't yet decided whether to use the N or 2mmFS gauge width for the standard track. As a test to allow me to create test straight track in both gauges I created a simple 500mm length drawing in N for UK gauge and printed it. I then changed to 2mmFS gauge using the gauge/scale selector and printed it. In both cases the Information Panel showed the correct gauge of 9mm and 9.42mm respectively. The printouts were identical. Does this mean that changing the gauge is not possible after a track template has been created? I thought from other reading that a change as simple as this was possible. Is the only way I can get a printout of a 2mm 9.42mm gauge straight by creating it as an original? This is not a problem with the turnouts I have designed as I intend to still use the 9mm standard in their case. Regards, ken PS Immediately after posting the above I remembered that the startup template is always altered so this type of change is obviously possible, what could I have done wrong? |

Hi Ken, The track gauge setting is specific to each template. To change an individual template to a different track gauge: 1. delete to the control 2. change the track gauge (using match original option) 3. store & background To change an entire track plan to a different track gauge, use the convert group button on the full gauge/scale dialog (other gauges... menu item). regards, Martin. |

You can change the control template to any track gauge. It is set initially to T-55*, which as far as I know is not used by any modeller anywhere. But it could be used if someone wished to do so. *5.5mm/ft, 1 inch track gauge, 1.0mm flangeway gap. regards, Martin. |

Unless I am wrong, from the information you have given me, the whatever you like to call it is the control template. What I was trying to change was in the background and had to be made the control template before the change I wanted to make took effect. Now I see it all, just another case of not quite understanding what I am doing but I am getting better. Even though there isn't a manual.  Thanks for your help, Ken |
