Hi Martin,

I sometimes work with only centerlines and marks showing, without rails and ties/sleepers. I can set up the background templates OK, but can't turnoff display of the rails from the control template. Can you consider making the display options for the control template identical to the options available for background templates? Note the differences between pad/pad options for the control template, and pad/pad background options.

Best regards,

Dave

Hi Martin,

After reading my post, I feel aditional detail is required.

First, The quoted sentence should have read "Note the difference between pad/pad options for the control template, and pad/pad background options/pad background templates detail." I'm looking for a display option checklist for control templates like the checklist you provide for background templates.

Second, I'm aware that the control template functionality for track center-lines only, and track with center-lines is provided by items on the geometry menu.

Best regards,

Dave

Hi Dave,

The control template represents the current output from the generator. So the settings you are probably looking for are in generator > generator settings > menu options. Note that to not generate any rails, there are 3 separate settings at generator settings > rails >.

A few more notes -- unticking > timber outlines also prevents any timber infill being generated. If you don't generate any rails or track centre-lines at all, the zoom to fit option (SPACEBAR) won't work properly, and it may not be possible to print the template.

I will look at adding further pad display options for the control template, although not displaying too many of the features which are being generated can get mighty confusing! :? Storing a template could cause a lot more features to appear than you were expecting.

If you have a specific reason for wanting to generate a feature but not display it, can you say why? I know that a tickbox dialog for the generator settings would be more user-friendly than the menu options, and now that fewer and fewer users are still using Windows98 we can get even greedier for Windows resources and do it that way.

These are template design settings included in the data file -- not to be confused with the generator and display options. One way of working with Templot is to create a bare-bones design using these centre-line only templates. A long sweeping S-curve transition perhaps. Then the detailed individual templates can be aligned over it and snaked along it into position. For an example of that, reload the sample file _85a_clungunford.box , copy the "transition centre-line" template (top right) to the control template, and then extend it using F4.

If this hasn't covered what you need, please write again.

regards,

Martin.
