Hi Martin,

I’m not sure if this is finger trouble on my part, but have today found whilst adding a turnout to an experimental bit of track-work using the TDV, that selecting F5 to adjust the turnout side of the crossing, it would only increment in 0.25 of a degree in angle.

Now I had set,

                      Length Free
                      Lock Switch
,   as I have used before in 0.91c, so am rather confused as to what is happening, can you please advise.

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.

Hi Brian,

Not 0.25 of a degree, it is snapping to the nearest 0.25 RAM unit angle. This is to match the normal UK prototype V-crossing unit angles which go up in 0.25 steps on the GWR and BR(W) and in 0.5 steps for most other companies.

If you want an infinite adjustment, use F9 instead (in TDV). Or for F5 change the option setting to action > F5 V-crossing angle options > F5 any angle menu option (all versions).

length free allows the overall length of the template to change according to the turnout size. Otherwise the template length remains fixed and may not be long enough to contain the entire turnout.

There is no need to lock switch with F9, which changes the V-crossing angle only.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for the quick response.

Once I’ve had a cup of tea, I will try as you suggest.

I now realise, that I should have read more carefully, your earlier log notes on the TDV development.

I must take the time out to cobble up a crib sheet of all the key facilities now incorporated in the TDV for quick reference purposes.

Apologies for taking you away from your coding.

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.
