Hi Martin,
I'm enjoying most of my experience so far with the latest TDV.
I'm working with 9mm gauge tram track, so I particularly like the interactive check rail adjustments, which help me to simulate quite a lot of girder rails in turnouts. But I have had intermittent problems clicking on the TSnn/MSnn labels. Just doesn't seem to work sometimes, although I cannot figure out any particular set of circumstances that causes problems.
One other issue: Templot won't quit for me! I have to end the process in task manager.
Neither issue is critical.
And one question: Is there a way of deleting custom switches (something that's also very useful in simulating tram track)?
System is XP SP2.
Regards,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the report.

The labels should highlight when the mouse moves over them, and turn yellow when clicked. Are they failing to highlight or failing to click?

What happens if you press F12 first?

Are you seeing the same problems when clicking the timber numbers for timber shoving?

Note that none of this will work while a mouse action is in force -- i.e. mouse pointer showing as a hollow triangle. You must cancel the mouse action first -- press the ESC key.

Anyone else seeing problems?

One other issue: Templot won't quit for me! I have to end the process in task manager.
Please could you describe exactly what you see and any messages which you see. How are you trying to quit? The red X on the workpad? On the program panel? The main > quit Templot menu item? The session > quit Templot menu item? The box > quit Templot menu item? Are you using program preferences? Does it make any difference if you have unsaved template data? Unsaved background shapes? Unsaved sketchboard data?

And one question: Is there a way of deleting custom switches
You have rather lost me there. :? To remove a custom switch from a turnout you simply select a different one. You can't have a normal turnout without a switch. Even gaunt turnouts and half-diamonds have a switch, although you don't see it unless you convert them back to normal turnouts.

regards,

Martin.

I have also experienced that failure to close with a Win7 access violation error.
Cant now reproduce it, will try and give details if it recurs.

Hi Martin,

Labels sometimes don't highlight or react to clicks, and occasionally jump to different positions, although I don't think I've seen that since the most recent upgrade.
Checking F12.
I don't use timbers on my current street track project.

I've tried all those way of quitting. No messages. Just no quit ...
As far as I know, I had all templates saved. Not using Sketchboard. Only two lines as shapes...am sure they were saved. On last three sessions I've had one quit OK and two fails. As far as I know I saved everything first.

I've been filling the custom switch slots while experimenting with ways of simulating street (single) switches. I'm trying at least to give me marks to work with while building turnouts. Was just trying to find a way of cleaning up the mess I create ijn the slots displayed! Naming the switches sensibly helps to keep some order, and it's really not a big issue. Just trying to keep some order in a tangled situation as I use Templot for something it was never designed to do! Would be nice, btw, to be able to save a few of the switches, which seem to disappear between sessions. Is there a way?

Regards,

Mike

Hi Martin,
F12 seems to make no difference. Have not had any failure to highlight since last message, but have had the TSnn label jump almost off screen to the right on switch side of a RH template.
Latest experience...on last 3 sessions: 1 failure to quit, 2 OK!

Hi Mike,

Sorry I missed this earlier.

The way to save anything in Templot is to store a template containing it. You don't have to actually use the template or finish the design of it. It can be an unused template or a library template if you wish.

To get the custom switch back into the control template, on the storage box, edit > obtain to the control template > obtain switch menu item.

regards,

Martin.

Thanks Martin.
I should have known there was a simple answer I hadn't thought of.

Mike
