Hi All,

This is a hint for putting platforms on the turnout road side of a turnout.

1.  You need to overlay dummy curves over the turnout road, this may take 2, 3 or 4 short curves to do it accurately.

2. When you have correctly positioned a curve (remember only the platform side rail is critical), then add the platform (remember to remove the side edges of the platform, unless it is an end section, then only leave the appropriate edge as ticked).

3. Once platform settings are completed, then use the < do > < omit rails and joint marks … > menu to remove both the short curved rails.

4.  Next, remove the track centre line form the dummy short curve.

5. Finally, name each of the dummy short curves accordingly, you should then be left with a clean platform, of the correct shape, on the turnout side.

Hope this helps, would be glad to hear if anyone knows a better way.

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.

Hi Brian,

You asked this question once before. :)

See my reply in the second part of this message:

message 9499

p.s. platforms are TDV only at present.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the reminder, apologies for that, a lot of water under the bridge since then, and am re-doing a lot of the layout due to the facilities in the TDV.

I must admit, it did not take long to do the job using the method I just described, which is, of course, the same as your suggestion of overlaying plain track on the turnout road in the posting in May, and it does cover all eventualities.

Sorry to have interrupted your concentration.

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.
