Hi Martin,

In the process of compiling a shortcut key help guide for the TDV, and hopefully the new issue Templot, which contains full detailed explanations of the result of the key action, I have discovered the following anomaly:

In the < action > menu, there is the function to repeat last action which requires to use the Backspace key, however, when this key is pressed, the result is to bring up the F8 rotate around peg mini screen.

Now this screen also appears, correctly, when the F8 key is pressed.

Thought you might like to know.

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.

Hi Brian,

BACKSPACE is the largest key on the keyboard and the one most frequently used in Templot.

It repeats the most recently used mouse action. At startup, that is set to the F6 curving mouse action.

I'm not clear what it is that you think is not working? I can't find any problem in testing it. :?

Thanks for that, but bear in mind that such lists already exist at:

help > shortcut keys list menu item, and online at

  http://www.templot.com/martweb/gs_shortcuts.htm

  for 074b: http://www.templot.com/martweb/shortcuts.htm

  for 078e and later: http://www.templot.com/martweb/shortcuts_078e.htm

And on this page:

 http://www.templot.com/martweb/pug_info_1.htm

scroll down to revised keyboard shortcuts.

They are all in need of revision and unification for TDV and Templot2, so the most help you could provide would be to identify what needs updating. The above pages will be back online shortly.

There is a list of the main shortcut changes in TDV at:

topic 1499 - message 9295

and Richard T created a new F key chart at:

topic 1499 - message 9300

One recently changed shortcut, at the suggestion of Gordon S, is CTRL+BACKSLASH to reset the notch. I've been using it a lot, so thanks for that Gordon. :)

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for all the pointers relating to the shortcut key data. :thumb:

I had, trawled through the back dated issue log messages, to find what I could, and have gone through all the menu screens in Templot TDV, making notes on the way, but again thank you for the information.

Regarding my anomaly message, because I was trying each of the key combinations as I went along to make sure what I wrote was valid, I think the thing that threw me regarding the BACKSPACE Key was, that I was only moving the peg to different positions in order to check it, not realising that the repeat last action only referred to key shortcuts and menu items as under the ACTION menu, and did not include other menus and menu items that one may misconstrue as an action.

In my mind, moving the peg was an action, sorry about being wrong in that. :?
At least I am now aware (or have been reminded) of the fact, and will not make that mistake again. :)

I still intend to continue and write the help guide, in doing it, has brought up some interesting insight as to what actually happens to the template when you do the key(s) operation. :)

Thanks again for the info, and your patience.

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.

Hi Brian,

I would prefer the menu to say repeat last mouse action, but there isn't room on the menu and if I'm not careful the menus just get wordier and wordier.

Generally in Templot the word "action" always refers to a mouse action. See:

 http://www.templot.com/martweb/gs_mouse_notes.htm

Other menu items I usually call commands, functions, settings or options.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Thanks again, all well and truly noted now for future reference.

Don’t be too concerned about the menu titles, once one is aware of what it does, it becomes second nature when using it, it’s only when you first encounter these things that you start scratching your head wondering what it means.

I have no problem with Templot, I still think it is a brilliant tool, and now, would not be without it.

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.
