Hi Temploteers, Just thought I'd have a play and replicate as close as I could Bury Shed from photocopies of drawings from *somewhere*. It isn't the final version as this is just the rough draft. Ian |

That's great, Ian. 2_061530_560000000.png Now you just need to add all the structures on the Sketchboard. Martin. |

Hi Ian, Thanks for that, but BGS files do not contain the picture shape image. We also need the Bury Shed.sk81 file from the same folder, or the original scanned file. regards, Martin. |

To go with 26D, is Bury Bolton Street station. To the left are the lines to Accrington and Bacup, with those to the right heading to Radcliffe where at the North Junction they split, taking the electric lines to Manchester via Radcliffe Central, a second route to Manchester via Radcliffe Bridge and a third to Bolton. The two lines which curve away to the right are the short spur to Bury Knowlsley Street. All that is missing is the coal yard between the two plans. Ian |

Martin, Apologies, the sk81 file is too large to add as an attachment, so have put the original jpeg up instead. Ian |

Hi Ian, Thanks for that. The image was a large file because it was a full-colour scan. I have converted it to grey-scale which has made it much more manageable. This is the sketchboard view: 2_062131_450000000.png In order to use the files, the BGS and SK81 files are both needed. Save them both in the same folder. Here's the BGS: |

It's easy to transfer them to the sketchboard, but here's a ready-made sketchboard SK9 file instead. The SK9 format uses text-based XML, so this is a much larger file. regards, Martin. |

Ah, the colour component of the file would have been introduced in Nikon Capture NX2 which I use rather than Photochop (sic)when I resized the image. It was originally a grey scale scan. Ian |

If the scans are from the Greater Manchester County Record Office then I hope you've got written permission to publish them here. I was told that I can't include *any* portion at *any* scale of the plans I had scanned on the web or with others without written permission, and I had to sign a disclaimer to this effect. Perhaps it's changed, which would be good news. Richard. |

Richard, I've had the plans so long I can't remember if I even had to sign a disclaimer. Might be prudent for Martin to remove the BGS and SK files just in case. Ian |

If they are OS maps, they go out of copyright after 50 years, so anything before 1961 is OK. | ||

I've just double checked the paperwork, and plans I have for Radcliffe from the GMCRO are copyighted and dated (01.10.97), yet there are no such stamps on the ones for Bury, so they may not be from Manchester GMCRO/PRO. Ian |

The plans I had where from LMS, but still covered by a disclaimer from GMCRO, whether still in copyright or not. I just don't want anyone to get in trouble! |

Hi Richard, I appreciate your concern :-). I can't remember where I sourced the Bury plans from. My father gave me some sheets of stuff years ago which were passed on to him, one of which is a Manchester, Bury and Holcombe Brook track isolation diagram. Isn't it nice to have some blue sky above our heads today ! Ian |
