Dear all,

Nearly 6 months on from moving to the new Templot Club forums, and we have just today gained our 250th member. Welcome Alex. :)

That's still fewer than 50% of the old Yahoo group membership, but I know there are many on there still receiving forum emails via Yahoo who have never registered on Templot Club.

Time to take stock, perhaps. The original intention was to reduce my off-group support emails by offering a user area independent of the dreaded word Yahoo. Certainly my off-group emails have reduced, but I don't detect any higher proportion of users now joining here than used to join on Yahoo. It is still only a small minority of Templot users actually joining, but no doubt many more read the forum pages without joining.

So has the move been a success?

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Do I get a prize for being the 250th member?! :D

Personally although I have just registered I would say that this forum is significantly better than Yahoo! groups. I've been an owner of Templot for a number of years but I've never done anything other then the Tutorial track plan. I've now got to get on and start building some track so I look forward to sharing my learning curve with everyone!

Martin

Personally I much prefer the forum based groups as they off far more interativity and I think Templot users have gained alot more from this forum like being able to upload pix with postings, and the few Yahoo groups that I look at are dwindling in posting levels and I think Yahoo has lost alot of ground in the last couple of years..

While the ratio of viewing to posting is always biased to viewing, I think definately a step forward.

Regards
Tom

I have been rather 'out of the loop' for a while, partly due to kitchen refurbishment, partly due to necessary house-painting (external) before winter sets in, partly due an Open University course which has just finished (with a three hour exam!) and partly (mainly?) due to procrastination. However, I have kept in touch via email. It's only in the last week or two that I've lifted my head above the parapet, so to speak.

I much prefer this forum to Yahoo, and like the facility to upload - and discuss - images, etc. When I bookmarked this forum, at first I was going to put it in the 'Traders' sub-folder of my 'Modelling' bookmarks folder because of Templot, but then had a rethink. It's now bookmarked under 'Societies', and I think that says it best.
