Hi Godfrey,

f converts feet to inches, not feet to mm.

i converts inches to mm.

So to convert feet to mm you need to enter fi or if as the prefix -- fi3 converts 3ft to 914.4mm

Always check the units being requested (shown to the right of the entry box) so that you can use the appropriate combination of input conversion letters.

This is a change in 206b. In older versions of Templot, the f prefix converted 64ths of an inch to decimal inches.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,
my mistake didn't realise.

Just thought I'd uncovered an error.

I shall now go back to the darkened room.

Cheers

Hi Godders,

No, my mistake. I should have explained it more clearly. :)

You could argue that the conversion letters should always convert directly to the units being requested. I did try that at one time, but ran into such a tangled can of worms that I abandoned it. It would prevent using multiple conversions, and also prevent the option to use the custom conversion letters a, b, c, d,  -- click program > custom input factors... on the program panel window to set them up.

For more information, click the ? help button on the data entry dialog (top right), and then the about conversion factors button at the bottom of the Help window.

regards,

Martin.
