I am trying to export to PDF, but when I hit the create pdf button, it gives me a dialogue about not being able to find my printer.
I don't have a printer connected to this machine, and tbh, I am somewhat confused as to why it should need a printer to create a PDF file. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Julia,

Thanks for reporting this. I will try to get it fixed as soon as possible.

Earlier versions of Templot wouldn't run at all without a printer driver, so we are making progress. :)

In the meantime, please just install a printer driver. You don't need the actual printer. Go to Start > Control Panel > Printers > Add Printer and select a driver from the list.

Windows 7 and 8 are supplied with the driver for the Microsoft XPS Writer already installed, so the above is not necessary.

regards,

Martin.

And that is where we hit one of the bugs that comes from running Templot within wine.
The linux install does actually have a dummy printer setup in lpr config, but I don't think this is virtualised into wine. I think I will have to wait for the bug fix.
Thanks

Hi Julia,

Just install a virtual printer. I installed the CUPS:PDF virtual printer in Ubuntu. It took all of 5 seconds to download and install, after which Templot ran fine in Wine and created PDF files.

(You don't need the PDF function in that virtual printer because Templot contains its own PDF engine -- it was just the most convenient printer driver to install, and will be useful in creating PDF files from other software.)

regards,

Martin.
