Sorry if this is covered else where - but I am failing in finding out how to do this easily.
I am still learning templot (using Templot 2) and want to know how to create a parallel straight and then keep the lines parallel around a long rather tight curve.
I can create the parallel straight (following tutorials etc) but where I am struggling is the changing the track spacing on the curve.
The scenario is this  - two parallel tracks running through a station, that then move through a 90 degree curve.
In the station the tracks are the standard spacing (55mm? I am planning in 00 gauge) and then increasing the spacing to say 65mm in the bend so carriages don't collide with passing trains.
at the other end of the curve I want the spacing to return to the normal.
I am sure this is possible, but I don't see how to do it,
Many thanks in advance, and Merry Xmas to all template users, and especially Martin for creating this magnificent, and some what head scratching software.

I thought Martin might have been along to give chapter and verse, but the basic way of doing it is to place your straight templates and your curved plain templates where you want them at the required track centres and connect them with transition curves. As you might have guessed, there are many ways to do this. :D But is is worth messing around with transitions to see what is possible.

In fact it is always best to use transitions between straight templates and curves even if you don't have to account for differing centres. Locos and rolling stock run better through the transition and the track looks better as well.

Thanks for the reply Jim - I wasn't expecting anything for a while being the holidays and all.

I suspected transitions were possibly the answer - but for some reason I cannot get my head around them and cannot get them to do what I want - No matter how I try they end up pointing off in all the wrong directions! lol.

Oh - well, I will have to keep trying.

Thanks for the reply.

Dave,

You realise that the transition facility gives you two options - i.e. if the curve is going the wrong way,  chose the other option in the dialog box shown after the transition curve is created. :D

There are also some situations where a transition cannot be created and you get a dialog box telling you that. Then you have to delve through Martin's help pages to find out what you've done or haven't done. :D
