I have designed a new layout using Templot. Thank you for developing the software once I had got used to how it worked I found it a brilliant tool and very enjoyable to use.

I have a problem. I have bought a new computer and downloaded the Templot software. It all works fine except that I cannot get my existing templates on the new computer. I have tried various things without success. The existing templates are still available to download on the old computer.

Could you tell me how to go about this please.

Regards,

Paul Scott

Hi Paul,

Welcome to Templot Club, and thanks for the kind words. :)

If your existing files are from Templot2:

From your old computer, copy the entire C:\TEMPLOT_DEV\ folder to the new computer.

After doing that it would be a good idea to download and install Templot2 again to be sure that you still have the latest version.

If your existing files are from an older version of Templot before November 2011:

From your old computer, copy the entire C:\TEMPLOT\ folder to the new computer.

The easiest way to copy the folder across is to first copy it onto a USB memory stick. Transfer the memory stick to the new computer and then copy the folder from the stick to the new computer.

Alternatively you can use an external disk drive, or copy it onto a blank CD.

If you need more help doing this, please ask again.

If you still have an internet connection on the old computer, there is an alternative way which doesn't require any equipment. All members have their own personal area on Templot Club at:

 http://85a.co.uk/forum/view_category.php?id=4

You can upload your files from the old computer, and then download them on the new computer. In addition you will then have a backup copy here on Templot Club if you ever need it.

When downloading, save the .box files into your C:\TEMPLOT_DEV\BOX-FILES\ folder (and other files into the other sub-folders) so that you can find them easily in Templot.

regards,

Martin.

Martin, if you would, please, reply;

Just a bit of background, first.

I wrote a message here to ask how to save files to a disc and reload them after restoring the operating system of my computer.

Now, if I get this right, the files uploaded here could also be used as attachments in messages as well.  Yes?  I've looked over just about all I could look at, in order to figure out how to put an attachment in a message of a track plan I drew up, to include the background I used.  I'm still trying to do that but maybe this could be a new direction, let's say.

Many thanks for this program, I work with it often and I'd like to upload some of my work.

Hi LPL.
To attach a file go to the bottom of the write message screen and you will see a Browse button. Click on this and you will be able to search for the file you wish to attach. This will either be the .box file (in the BOX-FILES folder) or .bgs file (in the SHAPES-FILES) folder. If there is a scanned picture shape this will also need to be attached as the SK81 file (for Templot 2). NOTE it is only possible to attach one file to a message so if you have 3 files in total you will need to generate a separate message for each one. Hope I have understood what you are trying to do correctly.
