Hi Martin,

Many thanks for this pointer, it’s a great find for the railway history books.  :thumb:

Lets hope they manage to preserve most of it for the museum.

As to modelling such a track, no problems with gluing it down, being wood.  :D

Also no need for soldering, but might have a problem with the electrics, perhaps it would mean going back to clockwork again.  :D:D

All the best.

Brian Nicholls.

Hi Brian,

Electrics is no problem if you use Radio Control there are some very small combined Receivers/Speed Controllers available here:-
http://www.deltang.co.uk/
Scroll down to Surface receivers 3-16V.
Lipo batteries here:-
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__582__85__Batteries_Accessories-Lipoly_Round_Cells.html
If you click on the batteries there is a new page with more info and dimensions. A fully charged Lipo cell gives 4.2V compared to NiMh at 1.2V.
This is a thread on building a 7mm scale RC road vehicle using small components:-
http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/18108-radio-controlled-road-vehicle-and-powered-gantry-crane/
Radio Control is my intended path, the small size & high voltage of Lipo batteries coupled with the small size of the Rx are the main reasons with lack of wiring a layout very close behind.
Regards,

Les.

Yeah, but these lines were powered by horses, men, oxen etc. All you need to operate the layout is a carrot, a long stick and a piece of string.;)
