It seems that since I last bought materials for track, the sources of the wooden sleepers and the rail I use have both stopped stocking said items. I had been using nickle silver code 55 FB rail from C&L fine scale, but they have stopped stocking it due to insufficient demand. I was also using 1/16" x 3/32" bass wood from Eilleens Emporium for my sleepers. Both companies have stopped selling said items. Does anyone know of anywhere in Europe (inc UK) that sell said parts? I've found places in the US that are happy to ship the rail to the UK, but doing the same for the wood seems suboptimal. Any ideas? J |

Hi Julia, Try the materials sections in these two:- http://www.alwayshobbies.com/about-us http://hobby.uk.com/ Also try Model Boat & Aircraft suppliers as they may sell suitable sizes. This site has indexes to Model Shops & suppliers:- http://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/other/events.php Hope this will be of use. Best wishes, Les. |

Another good source for stripwood in many types of wood is this company. I've used them and their delivery is quite prompt. http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/timber.html You might also consider cutting your own sleepers using sheet ply, a Stanley knife and a straight edge. I use a joiner's marking out gauge to score a line along the edge of a sheet then follow up with the Stanley knife in the groove, so don't use a straight edge for every cut, but you occasionally have to straighten the edge up. Jim. |
