Hello everyone im new here after reading many posts about templot & martin giving me the link here i thought i may benifit from joining the forum. Im intrested in bettering my modelling skills with scale track for a start. I have tried Xtrackcad & found i just couldnt work it out is templot a easier program to use?? I Saw a design recently for a layout i quite fancy building for a long term project it was done with xtrackcad but i cant find the designer so i must re draw it so i can build my points from the plan & also get the point sizes right for the layout. Now is Templot worth buying for myself im not brilliant with computers but from the videos etc it looks a easier program to use. I have managed to use the demo version of Drail with ease so will Templot be a good investment for myself???

Regards

Simon.

Hi Simon

Welcome to to Templot. I'm pretty much a nerd when it comes to computers and I eventually managed to get my head around Templot. When you first get it you need to persevere with the tutorials to get the basics after a while it all suddenly clicks especially when using partial templates to make up more complicated switch and crossings, don't expect to do Crewe before you've done Cogload.

Everybody on here is friendly and helpfully if you run into a problem and the problem does not necessarilly have to be Templot related. Just read the off track forum.

If we can't sort it on here then Martin offers a help service second to none.

Cheers Phil :D

Simon,

The advice has already been given to you, you must work through the tutorials. My own approach was to print out a hard copy (many pages, but worth it) and then build what is before you. I built it twice before I grasped the principles. Since then I have used Templot to design two station layouts.

John M
