Hi Hopefully I have got my head around the basics of setting up a custom GW 1 in 6 turnout In the Customize "V" Crossing menu I see there is the availability to customize 6 options of crossing front IE the number of timbers in front of the nose, but only 1 option for the average spacing between the timbers is this correct or should there be additional options. This is also the same for the "V" rail option. I was hoping to set up a set of GW turnouts from 1 in 2 ( which looks very strange) through to 1 in 14 as per the GWR switch a crossing practice book, but it looks as if it is necessary to do each turnout individually. Hi Phil, The defaults in Templot are based on the REA designs, where the wing rail front lengths vary, but all V-crossing timbers are at constant (2ft-6in) centres. I will look at making separate constant spacing settings for each wing rail front length, but I fear this may still require creating a separate customized template where any of the timbers have been shoved. A better solution would allow entry of the V-crossing timber centres individually, to create a range of prototype V-crossing designs, as for the switches. So avoiding the need to shove the timbers. That has actually been on my to-do list for many years. It's a much bigger change, and would be difficult within the current .box file format -- which so far I have managed to keep compatible through many changes right back to the first release of Templot. One day maybe. I would love to be able to get on with such things, but for the foreseeable future I don't seem to have much choice but to spend my time creating tutorials and updated docs, and helping beginners. regards, Martin. |
