Hi All Not had a fiddle yard on the old layout, I was thinking of 8 tracks in 2 sets of 4 tracks each set with a through track and 3 tracks feeding into the run through, I have 4 5 m to fit this in.I have a plan to use a 3way point a single slip and a couple of points, if I put the point set in the middle I can have 12 sets of stock (6 on each set of 4 tracks). As the point set is in the middle of the yard any of the stock (3 trains) can run out through the 3 way if the sidings in front of the 3 way has trains waiting. Each end of the 4 tracks runs into one up and down line, I will have to make each set of points handed. I was wanting to know if this type of fiddle yard has ever been used before. | ||

This was a favourite arrangement of the late Frank Dyer of Borchester fame. I have several of his unbuilt track plans and most have rather complex fiddle yards with 3-ways and slips. | ||
