I've just received spam sent to an email address that is used for templot and nothing else. Has there been a security issue at some point?

I've had one of those too (claims to be from Lloyds Bank, but obviously a phishing exercise)- to an email address that is only used for this site.

Hi Julia, Peter,

Do you receive emails from Templot Club via the old Yahoo group, or direct from Templot Club?

You are both using an email address which could easily be guessed by spam generator software for users of this site. Your domain name will already be known to them.

Try changing it to something less obvious, preferably including numbers.

regards,

Martin.

maybe people know this , but for example if you are using gmail, you can create multiple alias of your standard email which allows you to pinpoint where the email address was harvested from

say your email is johndoe@gmail.com, you can use johndoe+templot@gmail.com when you register say for templot emails. That way you know if that email was harvested . The email will be delivered to your original non aliased gmail account

you can also break up your name like john.doe@gmail.com or j.hon.doe@gmail.com as well

There is a RFC standard on this and the idea should work on any email server, but many dont implement aliasing properly ( and some web forms incorrectly flag them as illegal email formats too )

Yep, I have my own domain and run my own email, and each is unique for each organisation I interact with.
The email address is known only to me and to templot.
