Hi Martin,

In days of yore one had to be sure to tick the scaling box, this seems to have disappeared and now I think exporting is a full size only option, or am I missing something? (probably)

I haven't changed anything, and as far as I can see it is still working. :?

If you tick the scaled box, it shows the current output scaling setting (i.e. as set on the output menu):

p.s. looking at that dialog now, I can't understand why I wrote "turnout or plain track rails" instead of just "rails". :?

If the reason hasn't come back to me by the end of the day, I will change it.

Martin.

Hi,
I forgot there was an intermediate screen - still have the problem though when I look at the DXF file, everything is much larger than I would expect but that's probably just my unfamiliarity with Double Cad

Hi Stephen,

I'm not clear what you mean by an "intermediate screen"? There isn't any other.

Most sizing problems importing DXF files are caused by getting the units wrong. Remember that DXF files do not include any units information. That's why Templot puts in or mm in the file name.

Before importing the file, select DXF in the file type and then click the Settings/Setup/Options button. Set the units to match the file. This is TurboCad:

Martin.

Hi,
In the end I finished up splitting the PDF into 2 - don't know why the file size grew from 4.89mb to 17.8mb with a page size of 4000mm x 600mm - gives 6 pages to be printed in all.

I did send them a DXF file but they couldn't open it in their CAD program - some sort of version of Autocad - DWG -true view 2011 apparently - could only open as a Text file DWT - lord knows what they did, so it's fingers and everything else very much crossed - I've explained about checking the accuracy with a small pdf - we shall see.

I'll have a look at the view size in DoubleCad 5XT sometime (it's from the Turbocad people - free cut-down version)

Hi Stephen,

Could you perhaps make your messages a bit less terse? I'm struggling to understand what you are trying to do. :?

For example:

"Didn't make any difference still 1527% "

What is? Where did you get this figure from? Displayed in a program? Which program? After doing what? Or did you calculate it? How? From what information?

"I did send them a DXF file"

Sent who? Your customer? A digital print shop? Do they have a web site where I can see their submission requirements? Link?

"In the end I finished up splitting the PDF"

Which PDF? Why have you jumped to PDF files in a topic about DXF exports?

I do try to help whenever I can, but sometimes I just can't fathom out what I'm being asked. Admittedly you are not the only one guilty of this. :)

regards,

Martin.

Hi,

Sorry for your trouble.

The 1527% was in DoubleCad5XT, I still haven't figured out how to view it at 100% (easily).

I sent the DXF to customer who took it to the Print shop

We were only going down the DXF road because they couldn't print the original PDF.

In any event the 2 pdfs making up the plan have printed and printers have advised customer very happy. So you can consider it closed if you wish.

Borg-Rail wrote: I forgot there was an intermediate screenHi Stephen,

I finally twigged what you meant by that. :)

I have added a reminder message which pops up when you tick the scaled box:

In the next program update.

Thanks for the suggestion.

regards,

Martin.

Most CAD programs have a Zoom Extents button which zooms the screen to just fit the entire drawing.

This is in TurboCAD:

The same thing in Templot looks very similar:

Hi,

Thanks - found it now - looks just like Turbocad, which isn't surprising, since it comes from the same Company.
