Dear all, The latest Templot update is now available. Version 215a. Your copy of Templot should update automatically if you restart it and follow the instructions. If you have any problems with that, follow the download links on the web site. I will write a bit more about what's in it shortly. regards, Martin. |

Here's a summary of changes in 215a: auto-generated slips: tools > make slip > menu items. trackbed edges adjustable for length: real > trackbed edges... geometry > trackbed edges... menu items. experimental program sizing -- there is a small vertical slider hiding at bottom-right corner of the trackpad: 2_201440_230000000.png This replaces the previous dpi-aware functions which I introduced a couple of versions ago, to provide more control for individual systems and user preferences. Adjust for the most comfortable use on tablets, widescreen monitors, and anything in between. This has no effect on track design, it controls the size of dialogs, text and buttons, etc. Click the ? for more info. background maps directly loaded from the internet: background > add a background map or image > get a map directly from the web... menu item. maps menu on the background shapes dialog. curviform V-crossings can have modified timber spacing: real > timbering > curviform timbering > menu options. modify group to match. This function for the timbering has been split in two, the function for plain track rail lengths and sleeper spacings is now separate: real > plain track options > modify group to match menu item. custom gauge/scale settings are now retained between sessions, independently of the program preferences function. keyboard shortcut changes: ENTER key no longer hides the control template as alternative to HOME key. Instead: CTRL+ENTER hides the control template, alternative to HOME key. SHIFT+ENTER hides the name labels, alternative to END key. These alternatives are mainly for tablet computers with limited keys. I will add more details for each of these changes shortly. The directly loaded maps need a detailed write-up. regards, Martin. |

In 215a Templot can now make map screenshots for you, and scale them to the correct size. However, for screenshots made manually and imported, there is now a calculator tool to help you get them to the right size. Remember to set your gauge/scale first: 2_080908_000000000.png 2_080908_570000000.png The information needed is in the "slippy" map URL on the browser address bar: http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=18&lat=52.3214&lon=-2.5272&layers=176&b=6 Similarly for Google Maps, etc. The pixel width of the image is shown below the list on the background shapes dialog. The result: 2_080912_370000000.png Sorry about the silly long decimal fraction. I will get that fixed. Click the modify shape > re-size... button to enter it. For details of the actual maths, see: topic 3051 - message 21748 regards, Martin. |
