Hi My actual requirement is to build 00-SF points that will flare out to match PECO bullhead, was wondering if there is anything that matches the timbers of the PECO plain track in Templot I dont need to match it up to the new PECO bullhead point work so what I need is 00-SF with PECO bullhead sleepering thanks Dave (PS I dont have any PECO bullhead yet , so thats part of the issue , its on its way though ) |

Attach it with rail joiners, hold it down flat, warm the end couple of inches of the rails with a soldering iron to soften the chairs. To set the plain track templates, first set 4-SF gauge, then real > plain track options > rail lengths and sleeper spacings... menu item: 2_061840_350000000.png  Select the 60ft/26 sleepers option. That of course will be for jointed bullhead. Long-welded bullhead is extremely rare, even though that is what a yard length of Peco track is in effect. Over to you on whether you want to re-space the sleepers to match the rail joints on the templates. If not, for unjointed bullhead, select a custom slot, click the custom settings... button above. Set a dummy "rail length" which is equal to the sleeper spacing of 28", and have a single sleeper spaced at half that distance 14" from the dummy "joint". Then click the real > plain track options > rail-joint marks > none menu option. If that doesn't quite match the flexi-track, adjust the 28" accordingly. regards, Martin. |

thanks, generally I find it quite easy to flare the ends of my 00-SF points as i just lay the last few chairs using a standard 00 gauge . for collections of points I retain the 16.2 throughout and only flare back at a plain track end thanks for the tips |

You will then find that removing the flared-out sections will be tricky. My feeling is that if you are building a layout to the 4-SF standard (or any other), you should build as much as possible to that standard, and only deviate from it where unavoidable, for example when using commercial flexi-track. Similar considerations apply to the 0-MF standard. And you might also want to build jointed 4-SF plain track in the most prominent or visible parts of the layout. Thanks, your advice is always appreciated.I've never yet recovered a home built glued down point this didn't get damaged in the process | ||
