Martin,

I feel guilty today for posting the above yesterday, especially as the detailed description of the crash don't seem to have appeared on the post. Maybe it is because I had added a screenshot within the body of the post and it made it too large.

Please accept my apologies for breaking Templot by using the shapes dialogue for something I could have done in my image editing program instead. If you want me to re-post a description of the events leading up to the crash please let me know.

Rob

Hi Rob,

Yes please. I was about to ask if you could remember the last thing you clicked or pressed before making the screenshot.

I was equally puzzled how you managed to make a post without any text content, because that is not possible within the forum software. :?

Looking at the screenshot, the background shapes dialog is showing 10 shapes, but the list is empty. Clearly something odd is going on.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

The post that appears to be blank contained a few hundred word description of the events leading up to the crash and a pasted screenshot( the same as the attachment ). I hit the send button and switched straight to another tab to do something else. It was only today when I went back to the Templot post tab and noticed the initial post appeared empty.

To the events of yesterday :-

I scanned in a picture shape of the windows and doors using the backgraound shapes dialog and sized it to match its actual size.

For A := 1 to 10 DO
create new shape 12mm x 16mm called Temp
drag it over a windows or door on the picture shape
       use the crop/combine button
move the shape that now contains part of the scanned image
rename the shape ( as window 1.....8 etc )
ENDDO

Forget to save all the shapes ( not important as it was only a try out )

Delete the scanned image.

Templot then locked and gave the error message. Only way to close Templot was to end it in Task Manager.

I hadn't put any track on the background so I assume that is why I didn't get a 'restore' option the next time I started Templot.

Hope that helps, ask if you want any more info. Happy to do it again and note the results for you.

Rob

Hi Rob,

Ah. Depending on which browser you did that in, you could have been pasting the image as a data-block instead of a link to an image. Given that it's a bitmap 1920×1243 it would almost certainly have exceeded the HTML entity size limits.

Direct pasting works with small images such as icons, but it's better to save an image file and then use the button to upload it to the image gallery.

Thanks, I can now test it here. It looks like a memory leak somewhere. Do you know what DPI resolution you were scanning at?

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

The image size on the platter of the scanner was 100mm x 160mm. I scanned it in greyscale and I don't remember changing the dpi setting which means it would have been scanned at the default 600dpi. I would have knocked that down to maybe 150 if I had remembered.

Browser is Firefox Quantum 57.0 , I see there are many issues posted around about copy/paste in different browsers.
