Hi Martin

I have just inserted a turnout in plain track and a lot of timbering is missing, I have had a look in shove timbers, but the restore all timbers, is greyed out. The plain track was created as a branch track from the turnout on the right and curved until i could make a transition with the tandem on the right and adjusted to fit. I then "inserted turnout in plain track". The result is shown.

I'm using Win 7 pro.

I have attached the box file. I hope that I've got the right one.

Thanks

Phil

Hi Phil,

See:

 http://templot.com/companion/3_way_tandem_turnouts.php

• The created tandem will be comprised of partial templates. When you work from them in further track planning, for example to create a crossover, the partial-template settings will propagate into your new template. It will be necessary to click the [ reset derived partial template ] menu item to return the new template to the normal settings.

Note that this will also change your turnout alignment as it swaps from the 1:40 tandem switch to an ordinary "B" switch. I suggest changing the 1:5.5 V-crossing to something longer, or using an "A" switch instead.

cheers,

Martin.

Thanks Martin

I have sorted now, thanks for the heads up and the switches have been altered to 10ft GW old style curved switches.

As I had come from the toe end of the tandem and not used any part of it apart to roughly align the branch track from the turnout on the right to get a transition curve into the tandem that it would affect inserting a turnout into the plain track, but I shall hopefully remember when I come to do tandems in earnest.

Thanks again

Phil

Hi Phil,

You must have deleted or copied one of the tandem templates into the control template.

For example you would need to do that in order to make a crossover from it.

When you do that, the partial template settings from the tandem template get copied into the new template derived from it. Hence the need to click the reset function afterwards (not before).

It's a good idea to do that as soon as possible. Otherwise they may come back to bite you several templates later, for example when inserting a turnout in plain track. :)

cheers,

Martin.

Hi,
probably not connected but when using the 3 way function I keep getting gaps of missing timbering but I cannot see where I can restore them from. None of the partial templates seem to have them missing. Do I really have to create bonus timbers etc? Seems creating the 3 way is probably quicker manually.
