I know the info panel gives me loads of data on the control , but is there any way to get say combined lengths of a Group . I find it hard to extract data on amounts of plain track need , etc without laboriously going through each section as a control dave PS: I know I can Split templates , why cant I join templates ?, i.e. connect two plain tracks together at least that way the info panel could handle longer lengths |

madscientist wrote: PS: I know I can Split templates, why can't I join templates ?Hi Dave, Templates could only be joined if they shared a common radius/curving alignment. In which case you don't need to join them, because instead you can: 1. extend the first template to the far end of the second template: peg/align tools > extend/shorten the control template to meet at > menu items. 2. delete the second template. If they don't share a common alignment, or more than one of them is a turnout template, they can't be joined because Templot has no mechanism to draw such a combined template. I have no plans to create such a function -- imagine a control template with more than one of every peg position for example. In using Templot for all these years I have never felt the need for such a function -- otherwise I would have long since provided it. But often you can replace two templates with one, using the make transition function. cheers, Martin. |

Thats fine martin I understand the reasoning , it would be a simpler method for plain track of common radius if the opposite logic to a " split existed, rather then having to mod the control to extend over the background etc but its only a thought Dave |
