The message in the first dialogue box for rotating a shape gives the path for moving the spacing ring as tools > spacing-ring > dummy-vehicle instead of action > mouse actions > trackpad > move spacing-ring tool.

Thanks Adrian.

The correct path for the full spacing-ring functions is in fact utils > dummy vehicle • spacing-ring menu item.

I am currently working on some changes to the rotation of background shapes, which will be in update 218e shortly.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin.
Could you also have a look at the spacing of the set as marked on the printouts. The prototype dimension is 4" ahead of the switch tips, which in 4mm scale should be 1.33 mm in front of the blade tips, as I am sure you are aware. It does not look to be as great as that to me.
Regards
Tony.

No I'm not aware of that. I noticed you mentioned that on your S4forum topic and I was considering weighing in on the subject. I've been looking at all my sources and this dimension (not always 4") applies only to straightcut planing, which requires a joggled stock rail.

Can you point me to your source for suggesting this for a plain set and undercut planing?

Templot in fact departs from the prototype drawings in moving the set for undercut planing (the planing type easiest to model and most often modelled) a little forward of the toe. This is for geometrical reasons to ensure the CTRL-2 TOE peg position lies on the track centre-line for both routes, and allows for the split deflection option.

This is the wrong topic to go any further into all this, so I will start another one somewhere else, either here or on the S4forum topic if you wish.

cheers,

Martin.
