OK, here's what is no doubt a silly question,
but can two or more sections be combined into one section.
Reducing the total number of named pieces in a design?

Say you made a curve from two or three sections,
can these 3  be combined into on e piece?

Thanks,

Zoƫ the un-trained

As no-one else has yet responded - Yes and no!

You can create a transition between 2 separate elements of constant radius (straight being a constant infinite radius), then extend the ends of your new transition to the ends of your original elements. That may reduce 2 sections to 1.

If you have 2 adjacent sections of the same radius which are for some reason split, then just extend one to the end of the other and delete the 'other'.

To move a group of sections of track together, use the 'Group' functions.

Beyond that, all sections will be individual and have to be due to the number of parameters involved.

I'm happy to be corrected or clarified!

Andy

:?Best not to create too many templates in the first place.

When I first started using Templot I created an inordinate number of templates because I continued to think in terms of straights, curves and set geometry points, a carryover from the way I used to plan trackwork. Martin's advice: "if you are building your own 00 track please forget everything you know about Peco (or any other)ready-made commercial turnouts. I confess I thought this a little strange at the time but I'm glad I followed it.
As soon as I started playing around with transitions, particularly the S-reverse curve transitions, and got the hang of them, I bagan creating curves, "straights", transitions, reverse curves, all in one template. Then my problem was 'not enough templates" as I soon had to start chopping these up as I have a one metre limit on rail length (actually 960mm, 4 x 60ft panels in 4mm).

Regards
Peter
