Hi Stephen,

Many thanks for that. See also this post and subsequent post for maps, etc.:

 http://85a.co.uk/forum/view_topic.php?id=3228&forum_id=5&page=5#p24774

Do you have the Wild Swan book on The Tenbury and Bewdley Railway, 1995, ISBN 1874103275 ?

About 20 years ago the bridge carrying the B4202 over the deep cutting at Prizeley was in poor condition. Instead of demolishing it and filling the cutting, the arches were infilled with concrete, and the parapets replaced with crash barriers. Which avoided having to close the road while the work was done.

Travelling that road today, you would have no idea that the original bridge is still beneath your feet. This is the Google Streetview 10 years ago (the hedgerows have since grown much taller):

 https://goo.gl/maps/icrgdNZWUrzuRrA66

It was an impressively tall 3-arch brick bridge, as future archaeologists will one day discover.

Here I have quickly scanned a few prints, sorry about the very poor quality:

When I have found the original negs, and some taken before the work, I will post some proper pics.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Stephen,
2) a & b ;- This is the iron road overbridge being rebuilt - date unknown.
That photo is dated July 1930 in the Smith & Beddoes book, with some details of the construction. The bridge cost £832 8s 7d. I hope the Horsehay Company who supplied it spent the 7d wisely.

It was needed to allow enlargement of the goods yard at Newnham Bridge, because of the heavy hops traffic. Some local growers were sending hops to Cleobury Mortimer for loading because of congestion in Newnham Bridge yard, with "queues of lorries stretching back to the Talbot Inn". Strange to think that within the short space of 30 years, the branch was gone. In the years before closure the new longer sidings at Newnham Bridge were used for wagon storage.

That bridge spanned railway tracks for 30 years, and has spanned an empty space for 60 years. Here's the link:

 https://goo.gl/maps/oSyy8PRjWmqKBsRf8

The second photo shows a temporary wooden bridge which was built while the re-construction took place. The original bridge was brick.

p.s. I trust you have the copyright clearance to post all these photos? :)

cheers,

Martin.

.."The B&W photos were taken of images belonging to Tenbury Museum with their permission."

Hi Stephen,

I am following the thread with interest, you are certainly putting in some work on the research side of the layout. I suspect Martin was asking if you had permission to post the pictures electronically for people to see worldwide on here - this being rather different than taking them for your own private use.

Good look with the project.

Rob

Hi Stephen,

I'm sorry you have decided to delete your posts on this interesting topic.

If the photos are from a museum, it's very likely that they would have no objection to their being published on here, if you give them a credit for them when posting and perhaps some publicity about the museum. All you need to do is ask them, just to make sure. :)

Your photos are still in your image gallery here on Templot Club, including I think some that you haven't yet included in your posts:

 http://85a.co.uk/forum/gallery_view.php?user=3601

Which means they are still visible to all. If Tenbury Museum agree to their being published that's great, they can stay on here and I hope you will reinstate your posts. If the museum says no, I'm afraid they will have to be deleted from the gallery.

It's possible the museum do not actually own the copyright on them, but if so they will be able to advise you and put you in touch with the original source.

A donation to their funds is unlikely to be refused. :)

I have never visited Tenbury Museum, but I will do now that I know about it, thanks. Here's the info:

 https://www.tenburymuseum.org.uk

Many of the photos are also in the Wild Swan book on The Tenbury and Bewdley Railway, 1995, ISBN 1874103275 by Bill Smith and Keith Beddoes.

That appears to be out of print on the Wild Swan web site, but there are several new and used copies available if you Google the ISBN number:

 https://britishrailwaybooks.co.uk/books/ISBN/1874103275.php

 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tenbury-Bewdley-Railway-Keith-Beddoes/dp/1874103275

 https://www.abebooks.co.uk/9781874103271/Tenbury-Bewdley-Railway-Keith-Beddoes-1874103275/plp

Generally I'm relaxed about minor copyright infringements on here, where the source is properly credited and the content is of historic interest, provided no-one is likely to be financially impacted as a result.

But in the case of photos which are included in a book which is in print or might be reprinted, it is possible that the publisher has paid to use the photos, and won't be happy to see them used in quantity elsewhere without copyright permission. Likewise the copyright owners.

Sometimes content is available elsewhere on the internet. In which case you can link to it on here, either as a clickable link or as a visible image. That is not a copyright infringement, because no copy has been made and the web site owner still has control over what is displayed. Other rights may be impacted, but it's still a very grey area in law. Web site owners are able to prevent such hot-linking, so if they have not done so it is a reasonable assumption that they don't mind about it. But a credit to the source should always be given.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Stephen,

It's sad that you have deleted all your posts from this topic, and all your gallery images, even your own. I'm sure a way could have been found to keep some of them, and to discuss your modelling plans for the Tenbury line.

Are you intending to add any more to this topic? If not there doesn't seem much reason to keep it as it stands, and I'm minded to delete it entirely. Please let me know.

cheers,

Martin.
