I  have  things  set  up  to  get  forum  postings  by  email,  and  that  mostly  works  fine.  However  I  have  recently  been  receiving  multiple  email  copies    of  Martin's  postings.  This  morning  I  received  eleven  emails  with  Martin's  posting  number  473.  timed  in  here  at  21:02.  The  emails  were  timed  between  00:39  and  08:23.  It's  not  a  big  issue,  although  there  is  a  risk  of  me  deleting  good  emails  with  the  rubbish,  But  I  wondered  if  anyone  here  might  have  any  idea  why  this  happens.  It  only  seems  to  affect  Martin's  postings.

Hi Allan
I posted a few days ago about some Templot emails not arriving or arriving very (days) late. I’m fairly sure there’s something  not right about the forum emails at the moment. With missing emails it’s a bit tricky to see what’s happened because I don’t have them!

I’m still missing some Templot emails, so now it seems they arrive either on time or not at all.  Maybe you’re getting extras to make up for my missing ones!

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Allan,

I have checked your membership account, and you are not currently set to receive emails direct from the Templot server.

That means any emails you are receiving must be coming via the old Templot group on Yahoo.

YahooGroups recently changed their service to be an email list service only. The Yahoo email service is notoriously bad, frequently sending out emails late, or in the wrong order, or sometimes multiple copies of them.

If you would prefer to receive emails directly from the Templot server, please go to:

 http://85a.co.uk/forum/my_account.php?watched_forums=1

and make the required settings. Most users tick all the boxes to receive emails from all sections of Templot Club. Remember to click Save at the bottom.

Check also at:

 http://85a.co.uk/forum/my_account.php?edit_profile=1

that your email address is still correct.

Then unsubscribe from Yahoo.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

I tried to unsubscribe from the Yahoo service to cut down duplicated emails but received a failure email when using the unsubscibe link that is in each email from Yahoo :-

"We are unable to process the message from <my registered email address> to <templot-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com>.The email address used to send your message is not subscribed to this group. If you are a member of this group, please be aware that you may only send messages and manage your subscription to this group using the email address(es) you have registered with Yahoo Groups."

However since attempting the unsubscribe I have only had the direct Templot Club emails and not the Yahoo ones :? Nope I just has a Yahoo one...............

Hi Rob,

Looking at the Yahoo group membership list (which apparently I'm still allowed to do -- anyone else?), I see a member which I think is you having a login name related to class 37 locomotives, who joined on 19th January 2011.

Is that you? If so you are still subscribed to the Yahoo group. Do you want me to unsubscribe you? Assuming it works when I attempt to do that of course.

Yahoo groups is now an unholy mess. With our 20-years of messages archive now deleted, and no search function, there is little point in continuing with it. But I can't scrub it while I know some long-time members still receive their Templot Club emails that way.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Rob,

Well that appeared to work, and you are no longer listed as a member.

Whether the emails will actually stop, now or after a delay, or ever, is beyond my control. :?

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin, I too have been inundated with emails, from groups I belong/belonged too, I had forgotten about Yahoo groups, I've just managed to log in and this would explain why I am getting multiple emails from groups (some of which I had forgotten about)
I have just tried to unsubscribe but seem to be unable, could you do the same for me.
Luckily I am moving house in the next couple of months and will love that email address, which will cure the problem for other groups
Regards
Terry Beddoes

Hi Terry,

I have removed from the Templot group on Yahoo a member with a login beginning TEZ and a tiscali email address.

I hope that was you? :)

Sorry I can't do anything about any other Yahoo groups.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin,
The Yahoo emails appear to have ceased :) - none have landed in my inbox yesterday or today.

Thanks for doing this.
