Im redoing my own quick guides for Templot to bring them up to date ( these are laminated "  aide-mémoire " sheets ).

Is there an up to date  peg  position explanation around , I had a search but I think its old .

I do a little sketch with each position on the track/turnout illustrated

Ill post a copy here for others when I update it

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,

I've reached the stage where I'm seriously hampered by failing memory. I half-recall creating a more up-to-date list, but whether I ever finished it, or published it, I just can't remember. If I did, I can't now find it. :?

There original list is on this page:

 http://templot.com/martweb/gs_geometry.htm

about half-way down at:

 http://templot.com/martweb/gs_geometry.htm#peg_positions

Most of the other menu items at geometry > peg positions > should be self-explanatory, but if not just ask here for more explanation.

Here are a couple of diagrams from old posts:

Martin.

Nothing to do with this but it would be useful to be able to put the peg on the radius centre for turntables, unless of course I have missed something (probable)

not explained myself properly. You can put the peg and notch on a mid-point but then you have to align the turntable circle on it.

Hi Stephen,

I have looked at that in the past. It's a problem (otherwise I would have done it long since), because of the alarming effect when adjusting large radii with the F6 mouse action. Which would give beginners the final reason to chuck Templot out of the window.

However, you can put the notch on the radial centre(s) of the control template, geometry > notch > notch on radial centre menu item. Which means that if you position the turntable ring first, you can then align the tracks onto it.

Or to move the turntable ring over existing track, use the geometry > shift/rotate > shift radial centre to notch menu item.

Or use the notch-linking functions, if you group a turntable deck track with the turntable ring.

I will make a bit of video later showing that.

cheers,

Martin.

Isn't there already a video about turntables?
I thought I had seen one many moons ago, and a quick check in my directories shows two files named turntable_part_1 and ...part_2.
Haven't time just now to open them and see excatly what they are.  May be very old and/or wrong format for current use?
Anyway, thought there was a possibility it might save you a bit of extra work.

Hope you're keeping well during the current "Great Palaver".

Kind regards,
Stuart

Many thanks Stuart for reminding me about those old videos, I had forgotten all about them. :?

They are still on the server, at:

 http://templot.com/old_videos/turntable_part_1.exe

 http://templot.com/old_videos/turntable_part_2.exe

They are very old, dating from about 2005. So likely to be a bit confusing for Templot beginners.

But the basics are still the same, at least for part 1.

Part 2 is mostly superseded by the simple link functions in the latest program updates.

They are executable files, so you will probably be made to jump through the usual Windows security hoops to run them.

I will remake them for Templot2 soon. ish. :)

Hope you're keeping well during the current "Great Palaver".
Yes thanks, hope you are too. How we will be feeling after several weeks/months of it remains to be seen. Warm summer days and light evenings are going to be a test. :(

cheers,

Martin.
