I have finally got round to collating my issues of "Model Railway Journal" and "Great Western Journal" and wish to store them vertically on a bookshelf. I enquired at Wild Swan several years ago about how I might bind them, but they did not produce anything themselves and suggested I had them professionally bound. Since this would cost too much (I have all issues of both magazines) I have spent the last couple of hours searching online but have not been able to find anything suitable. I would prefer to have binders or slipcases of 'almost' correct dimensions, rather than those designed for publications of "Railway Modeller" size. If anyone can recommend a suitable supplier I would be most grateful.

----- from Peter Chappell -----

Ian

I have used the opaque version of the A4 box from the Really Useful company and have found this gives a clean box system. Just a thought; contact me offline if you want more details.

Regards

Peter

Mine are bound in green binders sold by the Welsh Railways Research Circle for MRJ and GWRJ. http://www.wrrc.org.uk/

A4 is just a bit too large for my liking, and I couldn't find any references to available binders anywhere on the Welsh Railways Research Circle website (maybe they are for members only?). Modern Bookbinders of Blackburn do a suitable size binder - so I will be placing an order with them asap.

Many thanks for everyone's help.

If you'd like the magazines bound, rather than a binder for them, then DJ Bookbinders will do the job.

I saw a set of said bound volumnes in Robert Humms shop, issues 1-155, for 600UKP - but the binding looked very good.

Hi'

For quite some time, I've thought it would be useful to be able to bind my magazines but didn't know were to start. I eventualy found a second hand book on the subject and it looked doable, My problem at the time was that I couldn't find a supply of board for the cover, so I gave up.

This thread has inspired me again and I soon found this web site that has instructions for the process and if you can cope with Templot and then build the track I'm sure the bookbinders will soon be out of business :)
