Dear Martin,

Either 'I found a flaw' in the programme or myself.:?

Session tonight ruined because I cannot see the information panel for the current template (and therefore any minimum radius warnings). Everything is set to 'Show information panel'  but nothing appears. Have searched in the archive but can find no information about how to solve the problem.

Deeply frustrating .......:(:(

Hi Richard,

This isn't a known problem and I can't reproduce it. What were you doing when the info panel disappeared? Clicking the pad and then pressing F2 should always show the information panel.

It is suppressed while the spacing-ring dialog or the shove timber dialog are displayed, but returns when you press F2. Try closing all other open windows and dialogs.

One way to lose it is -- have the pad window less than maximized. Slide the information panel right over to the right and then reduce the width of the pad from the right.

The solution is to maximize the pad again.

The minimum radius info is also stored with a template. So you can click on a background template and then the first item on its menu (showing the template name). The template info will be displayed and the minimum radius is about 2/3rds of the way down the info.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

This does appear to be an oddity and, not being particularly computer savvy, I was lucky when a friend called in later on.

First of all we did a check (in another application) that the F2 button itself was functioning correctly. It was. Then we returned to Templot and the opening screen came up with the normal T55 screen and turnout but without the information panel. The F2 button produced no response at all - even though we checked that the setting was 'show information panel'. We tried switching this on and off but the information panel did not appear nor did the F2 button function at all.

We then did a check on the properties of my computer and noted that it had been set up for two screen operation (perhaps by one of my children). Assuming the information panel had migrated to the (non-existent) second screen we tried to access it, Templot crashed with an error message which read 'accessibility error etc' and would not close. It had to be closed via the 'End Task' facility.

Upon re-starting the computer the Properties were re-set to one screen and we re-entered Templot which immediately launched and produced the normal T55 opening screen plus the information panel. The F2 button now functions perfectly. Problem over.

I dont know whether my description of events is enough to work out if there is a glitch or if the coincidence of events is just 'one of those things'. In a mature and considered response to the frustrations I resorted to alcohol and my recollection of events is now less than perfect.:):)

Cheers,

Richard
