I am trying to get myself started in 2009 with something small that i can build at home in EM & using the items i have around my home. I not attempted a layout before in EM gauge & decided to go with something small & something that wont cost me the earth if i mess up. Now i have drawn this plan in templot which i intend to build as a GWR station in rural somerset. I am quite happy with the plan but wondered if the timbering between the two crossings was correct. Can anyone help me correct them as i am unsure how to set them up correctly.

Thanks

Alberta.

Think the GWR would use long timbers spanning both tracks in the middle of the crossover; taking a quick look at your case I'd suggest 4 of them. Other suggestions
(a) you're using the default REA switches; if you look at Switch options under Template then you can see that there's also GWR flexible switches (if you think your track has been relaid after 1934) or the earlier GWR loose heel switches.
(b) if you've got room, a 1 in 7 V crossing would look nicer than a 1 in 6
