Hi all

I am trying to construct a scissors crossover, I have the four turnouts aligned where I want them but I am struggling with the centre diamond as templot will not allow a curviform nose in a diamond to align with the turnout rails of the original templates.

Can anyone please shed some light for me.

Hi Phil,

There are two basic designs of scissors. Type 1 where the diamond V-crossings are in the turnout curves, as you mention, and type 2 where the turnouts have lengthened crossing entry "straights" (or the track spacing is widened) to bring the diamond all on the "straight" (i.e. a regular diamond). This second design is much easier to do. "Straight" means curved at the ruling radius, if the scissors is on  curve.

After that you may need either to draw in some V or K crossing details by hand, or create some partial templates to do a full design.
