Hello,

Having just read Tony Hershberger's new post re State Line crossing near Hammond Indiana and viewed his box file, I'm prompted to post here a picture of a 'not so grand' UK flat crossing, which I originally contributed to the thread "Flat crossings in the UK" here: http://www.signalbox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=105

134_290350_360000000.jpg134_290350_360000000.jpg

A picture of the flat crossing at the west end of Westbourne Park Station (LT,H&C) showing both Crimea Sidings Ground Frame and Westbourne Park Signal Box (BR,WR).

This flat crossing gives access to Crimea Sidings on the left, across the LT tracks, from Portobello Sidings and the WR main line, on the right. Note the presence of loaded wagons in Crimea Sidings and the varied material on the loading dock, indicating that the facility was in active use at this date.

I took the photograph at 11am on Sun 1 Oct 1967. Kodachrome 828 rollfilm colour slide (25 ASA).

Regards,

Rodney Hills

Hi Rodney,

That's a great pic, many thanks.

What you didn't say is that you had put a hi-res version in the Image Gallery, so I've had a go at brightening it up a bit:

If you view this in the Image Gallery at:

http://85a.co.uk/forum/view_gallery_single.php?display=ALL&page=237#gallery_top

and click a couple of times, you can see the full hi-res version and read the signs.

Thanks Rodney,

Martin.

Martin,

Thanks for the thanks and the picture enhancement that you did.

To be honest I hadn't really looked into the Image Gallery feature before, but when I came to upload the picture I saw that using an attachment would not put it in line, so I tried another way.

Is having an in-line large picture a drawback to those not on broadband? I notice that a lot of forums have quite a severe limit on in-line picture dimensions - ah, but I see that my in-line image is reduced to 800x556pixels - you obviously do it automatically :-)

Regards, Rodney

PS - Martin, "You have a PM", but I now see that I omitted to set a subject other than default "<no subject>". Duh!
