On my new layout of Lancaster Green Ayre there will be about 16' of check railed track to build in the station area and the bridge over the river.  I was thinking of doing this in C & L has anyone got any experience of doing long lenghts like this.  I was thinking of using a simialr technique to check rails in pointwork using alternate chairs on each rail and then putting a cut chair on the other rail.

Jamie,

I did that with long check rails on a 7mm scale layout using C&L chairs and it worked very well.  In 7mm scale I found that there was no need to trim any parts of the chairs to get the requisite check rail gap.

Thanks for that Jim.  I will probably build a test section a couple of feet long. I was thinking of making the gap slightly wider than I would for a check rail in the point vee.
