Hi, Apologies if it's already been posted but I have managed to get the Templot video tutorials running under Linux and thought it might be useful for others. Basically the latest ffmpeg codec will decode the tutorial avi files. So download the tutorial video and open it in an archive manager, e.g. --> file-roller 3_way_tandem.exe Extract the avi file. Install ffmpeg and mplayer. I had to change the video output driver on mplayer to X11, easily done with the right-click menu and preferences in mplayer. Opened the avi file and off it played. Now I just have to relearn Templot for the umpteenth time! Hope this helps Adrian |

It seems ffmpeg includes a library of codecs, including the Camtasia TSCC codec used in the Templot videos. The actual decoder source is at: http://cekirdek.pardus.org.tr/~ismail/ffmpeg-docs/tscc_8c-source.html Opened the avi file and off it played. Now I just have to relearn Templot for the umpteenth time!Does mplayer allow you to stop and start anywhere, and move one frame at a time? It makes it much easier to follow the video and replicate the action if you can do that. TechSmith claim that the Camtasia Player executable should work under all versions of Windows from Win95 on -- does it not work under Wine? regards, Martin. |

Martin Wynne wrote: Yes quite easily and like most *nix programs easy to customise. The following set of key bindings are just part of those supplied. from /etc/mplayer/input.conf [ speed_mult 0.9091 # scale playback speed ] speed_mult 1.1 { speed_mult 0.5 } speed_mult 2.0 BS speed_set 1.0 # reset speed to normal q quit ESC quit p pause . frame_step SPACE pause So by default SPACE or 'p' will pause and '.' will advance one frame at a time.
Not straight out of the box. The Player fires up ok but I couldn't get it to load in any avi files. It looks like it's still using the Win95 file selection dialog which doesn't seem to work in the plain Wine configuration. You'd probably have to copy commdlg.dll over to Wine and add it as a library. So I'll stick with Mplayer for the moment. Regards Adrian |
