You might like to test the new print now! functions -- print now! > print .. menu items.

The former print menu is now called output, because it includes the settings for PDF and the other new output formats, and the metafile settings for the sketchboard.

Which makes the function simply to print a template somewhat non-intuitive to find. So I have added the print now! menu items which should be obvious to anyone. They also by-pass all the usual printer setup and calibration dialogs (a frequent complaint) and just print immediately to the current printer using the current settings.

Please give it a bash and see if it breaks. :)

Martin.

Hi,
Not specifically about Print Now but about TDV printing in general. In 0.91c and earlier you always got a preview of the layout on screen before going to printing so to speak - the pages were shown in dotted outline form. Now it's disappeared, requiring extra work to see what's going to be the best fit, a retrograde step or am I missing something?

Hi Stephen,

To see the same screens as before, click the output > print menu items.

if you used print now! to by-pass those screens, you should have seen this explanation:

If you mean the page outlines on the workpad, the settings are in the menu as before but now default to off:

Use the CTRL+SHIFT+F10 mouse action to get the best fit.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Might be due to my configuration (on a Mac via Crossover) but the "Printing Now" window does not close down when I am returned to the workpad. It would also be useful to have a "Don't remind me of this feature during this session" option on it.

Hi Simon,

Templot has no way of knowing when the printer has finished printing, so that window can't close automatically based on that.

It should close when:

1. you close it, or

2. you click on the workpad area, or

3. you access any of the workpad menu commands.

It seems to be working OK in Windows -- if not for you I think it must be a Wine/Crossover issue.

It would also be useful to have a "Don't remind me of this feature during this session" option on it.
Yes, I will add that. Thanks for the suggestion. :thumb:

regards,

Martin.
