Hello all,
I am planning a small layout of a sawmill an want to use templot for designing and have a few questions...
1. How do I import a scanned sketch of my layout (jpg) to use as a background?
2. Failing the above how do i draw a simple rectangle 1850 mm x 630mm, what should i enter in the 4 dimension boxes?

Thanks for any help
Sam

Hi Sam,

Welcome to the Templot club; a good place to start is : Companion - Backgrounds and Scans.  You will also find how to use shapes there. It will be probably be worth while changing the sketch from .jpg to .png if you can.

Hi Sam,

Welcome to Templot Club. :)

There is a video showing how to import a scanned sketch at:

 http://www.templot.com/martweb/videos/map_picture_shape.exe

Note that now in TDV it is no longer necessary to use only a BMP file or save it in the \SHAPE-FILES\ folder. You can use PNG, GIF, or JPG files from anywhere on your computer.

However, if you are new to Templot I would strongly recommend that you get some experience of the way the program works before attempting to design over a scanned guide. :)

p.s. your scanned sketch will be much easier to use if you turn it through 90 degrees first.

2. Failing the above how do I draw a simple rectangle 1850 mm x 630mm, what should I enter in the 4 dimension boxes?

Enter  0 , 0 , 1850 , 630  to create your rectangle background shape.

regards,

Martin.
