I created a transition from curve and tighter curve.I inserted a turnout in plain track.
Immediately track beyond turnout blanks.
If I roam the turnout the blanking goes with it.If I make Branch Track, track is timbered.I have looked through all the "do" options.I have looked through the "generator" options.
I'm puzzled, I have done this hundreds of times before and never seen this.

Hi Godders,

You have set real > timbering > exit track > exit rails only menu option.

You need to change it to exit sleepered.

p.s. except in the switch you have the timbering centres much closer than scale -- the ganger may have trouble hitting the keys. :)

Also the vee nose is not properly supported in the A chair.

Have you copied this from one of the Peco templates?

regards,

Martin.

Yes, Martin, the layout is built with peco track which I have tried to modify to 00-SF.I am trying to see how much of the original I can save and replace all turnouts and crossings with handbuilt 00-SF.
I have seen and corrected some of my errors.
However, I seem to have an area around the vee which is inconsistent.  The rail joint is not the same as a 00-SF version and the timber spacings are not right neither is the closure rail curvature the same as a generated turnout, please see attachment, are these correctable?I know I can use real>shove timbers to move the timbers but that doesn't change the other items.

Hi Godders,

Everything is correctable. :)

But first I have to understand what you are trying to do?

If you have an existing Peco layout and you want a drop-in replacement in 00-SF for the Peco Large Radius turnout, the nearest close match seems to be a GWR 10ft switch with a 1:6 curviform crossing. See the diagrams here:

 http://00-sf.org.uk

If you want to rebuild a Peco layout rather than make an exact copy, it would be better to use say an ordinary B-6 or A-7 turnout in place of the Peco Large Radius turnouts. You can probably save some space by reducing the track centres spacing to the scale 44.67mm dimension (except on sharp curves).

If you are using the shorter Peco turnouts, I wonder whether 00-SF is the best choice, and you may do better in 00-BF.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin, I think you are wanting to do more than I need. I can easily change out the peco turnouts, which are the large radius ones, for the best equivalent 00-SF.
What I was trying to do was modify the existing templot drawing which utilises the Peco unit you have used.
My problem is as you noted earlier the geometry goes awry and in particular The X timbers leading up to the vee X1,2,3&4 are closed up and the vee joints are much closer to the joint compared with the "standard" 00-SF turnout next to it.
I just wanted to know if I can respace these timbers other than individually with "shove timbers" and correct the position of the rail joints.
Both turnouts in my attachment have identical descriptions and most data is identical with the exception of the external geometrical radius.
This is me being inquisitive, it's not necessary for this project. I am trying to improve my detailed knowledge of Templot.

Cheers

Hi Godders,

Sometimes try as I might I struggle to understand what I'm being asked. In this case I think you want to return your modified turnout to mint condition?

In the .box file which you posted earlier, click on the upper background template (the left-hand one).

Its menu appears on the left.

Click the obtain to the control > mint the control template from this menu item.

It will be curved to the default 10 chains radius, and placed in the middle of your screen.

Click on the background template again.

On its menu click the peg/align tools > align the control template over background template > facing-facing menu item.

You can now choose to wipe or delete the background template.

Don't forget to store the control template in its place. You may need to adjust its length (F4) to fit.

If that's not what you meant, I'm sorry, can you have a third go at explaining? :)

regards,

Martin.

Martin, that is absolutely what I needed.
Sorry to have been so troublesome.
Thank you so much.
