Hi martin

I have just used the control Template to add a mainside track centreline, at which point I lost some bits of rail from the turnout roads and some timbering from the heel end, I have checked 'OMIT RAILS' and 'Shove Timbers' to see if I could find out if they had been deleted, but as you can see from the screen shot all is shown as being in place. I am using Win 7.38_310932_140000000.png38_310932_140000000.png

I have tried closing Templot and re-opened it, but the screen shot scenario still remains. Any ideas please.

Thanks

Phil

Hi Phil,

That looks odd. :?

Which function(s) did you use for "I have just used the control Template to add a mainside track centre-line"? I can't see a mainside centre-line on that control template, the centre-line appears to be a background template.

Is there a very long length of approach track on this template?

Can you post your box file here (or just a section of it - save group)? Thanks.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin

I used the 'TOOLS' MAKE DOUBLE TRACK MS' and then 'Geometry' 'CENTRE-LINES ONLY (track)'. The reason for the centre-line template is a background template is because I saved it, so that I could look at the affected template. Template 45 in the box file.

Box file hopefully attached.

Thanks

Phil

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the .box file.

The reason for the problem is that you have the turnout-side adjacent track centres set to only 32mm (instead of the 44.67mm minimum), with the turnout-road exit length set to crossover (for the mid-point of a crossover).

You can either:

a. change the the adjacent track spacing to a more suitable dimension, or

b. set geometry > turnout-road exit length > normal.

I will look at adding a warning when the track spacing is set very small, thanks for reporting it.

p.s. if you want the centre-line for double track, without changing the track spacing settings, you can do geometry > centre-line offset options > MS double track centre. That way you don't need a separate template.

If the reason for wanting the double-track centre line was for the ballast edge or trackbed edge, see instead  the geometry > trackbed edges > menu options. There is more info on the ? trackbed - help menu item.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin

Thanks, I thought it might have something to do with the track centre-lines. The reason for using the track centre-line rather than track bed edges, is that it's possible to get a nice curving sweep to avoid obstructions, whereas the track bed edges is the abrupt change from one template to the next, if/when a different width is required.

Thanks

Phil
