edit: Here's the latest full release of open-source TemplotMEC, 4th July 2018 (attached below).

If you are starting with TemplotMEC, create a new folder somewhere on your system to unzip the attached file into.

It can be anywhere you like, called whatever you like,

but:

1. NOT in your existing Templot2 folder (\TEMPLOT_DEV\).

2. NOT in the Windows \Program Files\ folders.

3. NOT containing any spaces anywhere in the folder name or the path to it.

I suggest C:\TEMPLOT_MEC\ or maybe on an external drive or USB stick.

After extracting it into that folder, you will have a sub-folder containing the files, like this:

I suggest that you copy all the files from the sub-folder into the main folder:

These then become your working files, to edit the nuts and bolts as you wish. The files in the sub-folder remain unchanged as a backup if the wheels fall off your program. :)

If you haven't yet installed Lazarus, follow the instructions here (several messages to follow through):

 http://85a.co.uk/forum/view_topic.php?id=3283&forum_id=26

Then in Lazarus, if anything is open click File > Close All.

Then File > Open... and navigate to  C:\TEMPLOT_MEC\templotmec.lpi  in the working files.

If nothing appears to have been opened, click Project > Units... and select  control_room.pas

Then try Run > Run menu item.

It may take a while, but eventually you should see the usual TemplotMEC program running.

If you have downloaded previous releases of TemplotMEC and modified the files, you will need to save those files elsewhere and then copy and paste the changes into these replacement files.

edit: previous releases deleted.

Martin.

Cheers. I'm just checking apart from the name change is this the same source code as OpenTemplot? i.e. the same feature standard as OpenTemplot.

I've made a few fixes -- the background picture shapes are now working (at 32-bit PixelFormat), and Drag&Drop is working to drop files on the trackpad.

But don't get it mixed in with OpenTemplot because the name changes are all through, for example in the Help notes, menu items, etc.

I shall be posting a new zip for OpenTemplot with the above fixes shortly. I will post that here first, and then have a go at putting them on SourceForge the proper way.

cheers,

Martin.

Martin with the very greatest respect for you may I humbly suggest that you don't. The last thing I wanted to do was for you to start trying to maintain 3 code bases - I thought that the whole intention of the SourceForge area was for other people to help out with the open source version - not to create additional work for you.

As long as it is okay with you please let me handle all the SourceForge admin, you have previously commented that it seems far too onerous so please let me help out. I am more than happy to maintain all of the SourceForge side of things with OpenTemplot. I am more than happy to use the file comparison tools to pick out the changes and add them to OpenTemplot. You can then download a copy easily and check I've added all the updates correctly but I am more than happy to create the zip file and post it on here and the SourceForge site.

I would humbly suggest that you concentrate on Templot2 first and TemplotMEC second. Leave OpenTemplot for myself and others, to see if we can maintain the code base.

Regards

Adrian

OK, that's fine by me and very generous of you. Many thanks. :)

I do want to learn the SourceForge stuff at some stage, so that I understand what's happening on there, but I'm content to leave the heavy lifting to you. Hopefully some others will be joining in to share the work.

Now back to Templot2, because I'm sure Paul isn't the only one waiting for the file conversion functions to get his Templot2 stuff into TemplotMEC. :)

cheers,

Martin.

Totally honestly it is really no problem at all and I'm only too pleased to help.
I really do think that the whole finescale modelling community owes you a huge huge debt of gratitude. You seem to be far too modest to accept that accolade but like it or not I do think that is the case. So the fact that we can in some small way repay that debt to you in this way really is the least we can do.

As long as you are happy with the arrangement I will update the SourceForge repository with the OpenTemplot files you have released i.e. ot_source2.zip . I will let you know when I have done this so that you can check that I've done it correctly but please forgive me if it's not instant - I can't work the same hours you seem to do!!
