I have read many pages of information on timber shoving but I cannot find a answer to this particular problem. (Apologies if I have missed it somewhere).

I have set out a crossover and have attempted to shove timbers to places which I think look reasonably right! The problem is that on some timbers, after moving them, the image of the original timber/sleeper remains. This 'double' image is printed out on the template. The screenshot below should illustrate this.

In my ignorance, I have tried a number of tweaks to get rid of the residual image but the problem persists. Could anyone help me with this please?

Thanks

Ray

Hi Ray,

Welcome to Templot Club. :)

You have created duplicate copies of your templates. Normally they are difficult to see because they are identical on top of one another. But when you make changes to one but not the other, you can see that they are there.

To remove the unwanted ones:

1. put the template name labels back on (trackpad > show name labels, or END key).

2. hold down the SHIFT key, or put the CAPS LOCK on.

3. move the mouse over the name labels, not the whole template.

4. each template will be highlighted in turn. When you find an unwanted one which doesn't have your changes to the timbering, click the name label. Then click delete on its menu which appears on the left (or press D).

Creating unwanted duplicated templates is a common problem for new users. For some help in avoiding them, see:

cheers,

Martin.

Hello Martin

Thanks for your very swift reply. I had realised that the problem was something to do with templates sitting under the one I was working on but I couldn't work out how to find and delete it/them. Now I can!

I have followed up your advice and read Basic Working Methods. I think I now know why I had so many duplicates.

Thanks for your help and the brilliant programme that Templot2 is.

Regards

Ray
