Hello,
I have created a track design and although the sleepers and rail are shown. The chair positions are not. I would like to print the individual templates that were created showing the chair positions as templates ready for assembly.

Attached file of track. Needs tidying up.

Hi Anthony,

Welcome to Templot Club. :)

Chairing is not currently supported in Templot, which is primarily about creating the geometrical rail alignments and timbering positions.

Assuming you want REA chairing (rather than say GWR or any of the pre-group companies), there are PDF files available on the Exactoscale web site showing the standard REA chair positions for switches and crossings:

Click the links below each diagram to download the PDF files. They are vector files and can be zoomed in to reveal the full detail. You can then use them as a reference while constructing pointwok on Templot templates:

I'm currently working to add chairing to Templot, at least for the basic turnouts. It's extremely complicated and varies for different prototypes and periods, so it can never be just a few clicks. The chairs also have to re-arrange themselves when timbers are shoved. Here is an idea of how it will look on the trackpad:

The main reason for doing it is to create files from Templot for home 3D printing, like this:

But there is still a long way to go. At present I'm fully occupied with other more pressing stuff, such as a new file format for the open-source version of Templot.

cheers,

Martin.

Hello Martin,

Thank you for your reply.

On the screen shot above from template you show chair outlines on the track bed. If you can show this why can you not issue the update with a provisor about shoving the track bed. I would also note that when downloading the software we are required to have completely read the user guide which is not fully complete !!!

Cheers

Anthony
