Any ideas during the Big Four period what kind of size pointwork the GWR or LMS would have used in their goods yards - something akin to the goods warehouse at Birmingham Lawley Street I mean? Mike |

Mike, I think most of it would be determined by what sort of locos are likely to be using it, reception roads are likely to be around 7 chains if eight coupled engines are used, 4 or 5 chains for six coupled tanks down to 2 chains for smaller locos. My latest shunting plank has one siding which is 2 chains and restricted to 1361 saddle tanks the rest are at 4 1/2 chains or greater. HTH Phil |
