I'm always using groups when working on my layout design and something has puzzled me. When you have a whole group of templates and realise you have a misalignment or need to amend one piece of track within the group, you bring the template to the control, make the changes and then save, but in doing so, you lose the group marker colour for that piece of track. That means going back to group all templates and selecting the market colour for the group all over again. Am I missing something, or is there a way that the piece of track you have amended can keep it's original marker colour once you save it. Of course I'm assuming I'm doing it correctly....... |

Sorry. However, there is no need to recreate the group. You can update the settings for the template after storing it. Just click on it: 2_050637_350000000.png Then click the menu items or press V then M or C to show it in a marker colour. Also, if the group is still selected, you can press G to add it back to the current group. (That doesn't change the marker colour, which belongs to each background template separately -- templates can have different marker colours and still be grouped together. The marker colour(s) don't show while grouped -- they are all shown in the group colour instead.) If a clicked template is already in a marker colour, you can press V then G to group all the templates having the same matching marker colour. cheers, Martin. |

Thanks Martin. Not the end of the world, but thought I would ask.... Whilst on the subject of groups, I have often highlighted a group of 20 or 30 templates and then moved them all as a group using Ctrl/Shft/F7 out of the way whilst I was amending the adjacent area. Is there a way of then using a snap join F7 to join the whole group back in one piece and join it back to the amended track plan? I can move it with Ctrl/Shft/F7 but haven't found a way to join it up again as a whole group in one move. Can that be done? The only solution I have so far is to join each piece back in turn. |

Use the notch-linking functions. It's quick and easy, but not easy to explain in words. I'm sure I have made some videos showing how, but it will take me a while to find them. If not I will make another. Back shortly, in the meantime it's explained on this very old page: http://templot.com/martweb/gs_geometry.htm#shift_group_notch cheers, Martin. |

No problem Martin, I'll check it out. Seemed like a logical thing to do when moving groups of templates about and wanting to join them back all in one go. Off to test it out.... |

Sorry.Hi Gordon, Returned to this topic to say it can now remember the marker colour: 2_041020_020000000.png It will be off by default, but can be turned on using the above new menu option. The option setting will be included in your program preferences, if you are saving them. In the next program update. Thanks for the suggestion. cheers, Martin. |

Do you have a plan to publish this update? The saving a template in it's marker colour would be useful :-D All the best Richard |

Hi Richard, Sorry about the delay in releasing 227a. There are a lot of new features and changes in it. I've been trying to get it finished, but it will likely be another couple of weeks yet. cheers, Martin. |

Hi Martin Thanks for the update, and no rush. I'm back to Templotting now the nights are drawing in. It's a kind of therapy. All the best, and stay safe Richard. |
