I'll paste in my rail sizes table below - it's actually a smidgen over 60thou!  These measurements were taken with a good quality Mitutoyo vernier, and measured at several points.  I'm glad you had success with the grooving tool.

Thanks for the rail dimensions. I see what you mean about not having to file any off the foot of the rail when creating checkrails etc - as long as you don't want them <0.5mm wide

Conveniently, my flangeways are 0.5mm wide!  I’m essentially using 2mm Scale Association track and wheel standards, with the gauge reduced to 7.83mm. Plus taller rail, of course!


As an aside, I seem to have got sucked into modelling in 2mm scale as well!

It never does to rush these things - this evening I’ve finished the flat bottom turnouts! There was a bit of trial end error, and I made more crossings and switches than I used, but now they’re done!  I still have the gapping to do, detail around the check rails and blades, not to mention the drive mechanism.  The track is 4mm scale, 7.83mm gauge, made to 2FS standards with a reduced gauge.  The crossings are either 1 in 8 or 1 in 6, mostly curviform.
