The SourceForge page usually shows 0 or maybe 1 download in a week.

Then suddenly it is 17 downloads this week:

 http://sourceforge.net/projects/opentemplot/

Is that anyone here? Templot3 is now quite a long way behind recent updates to Templot2, and more changes to come.

Not sure what to do about resolving the differences. :?

Martin.

Thanks Igor.

Can you say which forum?

I hope it was made clear that Templot3 is currently a cut-down version of Templot2 (because of licensing issues) and is currently about 18 months behind more recent developments.

Links to T3 need to be on computer/programming forums.

For railroad/modelling forums it would be better to link to Templot2 (here).

cheers,

Martin.

The forums i am on are: gscalecentral, mylargescale and where i found templot: largescalecentral.
On gscalecentral and on mylargescale i droped the name templot only, i was not aware of a t3.
Probably(my best guess): IF they googled the name templot they thought t3 was a newer version, but this is a wild guess.

Best, Igor

Martin,

For give my ignorance, but does this have anything to do with exporting data in the MECBOX transfer format when saving templates?

If that is the case then it maybe me who has created all these downloads. Whilst working on my current project I have saved my work at regular intervals and basically followed the option that stated "If unsure hit yes". So I did. Sorry!

:?

Hi Scott,

No it wasn't you downloading Templot3. Saving a MECBOX file on your own computer does not download anything.

Yes, the purpose of a MECBOX file is to save your data in a format which could be used in Templot3 if needed (Templot3 cannot use normal BOX files).

The purpose of Templot3 is

a. to provide a means of continuing with your project if Templot2 becomes unavailable for any reason (such as a my being run over by a bus!), and

b. to invite others to get involved in future programming developments of Templot in whatever direction they wish to take it. While I continue to develop Templot2, at least for the present.

At present by default when saving, Templot2 invites you to create a MECBOX file in addition to a BOX file, as a form of insurance. If your work is not critical, you may choose not to bother with that.

You can try running Templot3 from the T3 menu in Templot2 if you wish, but I suggest you return to Templot2 for actual work -- quite a lot of Templot2 functions are still missing from Templot3.

cheers,

Martin.
